Bobsled Trail is a wildly popular downhill ride from the Bonneville Shoreline Trail along the North Bench of Salt Lake. This twisting and turning high banked trail feels like your are competing in the Olympic Bobsled run. There are several jumps and drops, but can all be bypassed if your skill set is not ready. Some of the jumps are over old cars that have crashed in the canyon and came to rest in the creek bed at the bottom. The first few times you ride this we recommend you take it a bit slower and get a feel for the run before you run ‘balls to the walls’.

There are several videos available on youtube.com that show off the fun nature of this trail. Just do a search for “bobsled trail Salt Lake” and you will find them. Watch a few and be sure to add this one to your wishlist if you are into the downhill scene.

NOTE! Bobsled Trail is a downhill run – DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT RIDING UP THIS TRAIL! If you do you will likely wind up in the head-on collision with a fast moving downhill rider.

Don’t forget your helmet and gloves. You may also want to wear elbow and knee pads as well as a long sleeve shirt and longer pants just in case you crash.

Additional Notes, Obstacles, etc

There are several jumps over old cars, drops and other obstacles including a good sized creek jump. These can all be avoided with bypasses around them. Be sure to stay in control as this trail is very popular. You can find yourself with another biker on top of you very quickly if you wipe out. Please be respectful of other cyclists on the trail. They may not be up to your skill set just yet and riding slow while they are getting a feel for the trail. If you find yourself on top of another rider, please stop and give them time to descend. Pushing a rider beyond their skills can result in serious injury.

Directions to trailhead

From I-15 take the 600 South exit and go east to State Street. Turn Left (north) on State Street and drive to North Temple. At North Temple turn Right and drive to “E Street” (around 500 East). Drive up E Street to 11th Avenue then turn Left (West) to go to the City Creek Trailhead or turn Right (east) to go to the Terrace Hills or Dry Gulch Trailheads. From either of these trail heads you will need to ride along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail until you reach the famous Bobsled trail.
